Preparations
The poster announced on12th June with AMOQA and Filmmakers4Palestine in 6 languages (English, Greek, Arabic, French, Turkish, Kurdish). Translations prepared and checked by the group.

"Pride is Our Resistance! No Pride in Genocide! There is no liberation alone, either all together or none of us! Let's break the borders between struggles, between each other and unite!

The details of the events will be announced soon..."

Same day an announcement made by AMOQA and Filmmakers4Palestine about the "No Pride in Genocide" film festival. On 15th June festival program translated to English and Arabic, since some movies had English subtitles and Arabic audio we thought it would be nice to invite non-greek speaking people with a special post. The cinema event was very crowded, audience chanted slogans, a banner opened "No Pride in Genocide" and also an announcement about the Beach Picnic done (some people find us like that).

About Handala Drawing
Handala is a prominent symbol and personification of the Palestinian people. The character was created in 1969 by political cartoonist Naji al-Ali. Al-Ali drew over 40,000 cartoons, often reflecting Palestinian and Arab public opinion and offering sharply critical commentaries on political leaders. On 22 July 1987, while outside the London offices of al-Qabas newspaper he was assassinated.

The drawing on our poster shows the connection between Palestinian kids, trans kids and immigrant kids around the world. The thorns that entangle our feet are the same. The inverted pink triangle and the inverted red triangle show the link between genocides. We queers are the survivors and we should know the consequences of silence towards fascism. Against the fascism, borders, colonial Eurocentric illusionist mindset we should unite. Immigrant rights, trans rights and the Palestinian struggle are the entangled paths going to anti-colonial liberation.

After I sent the image to the group, a friend wrote to me "I think this drawing you are using belongs to the Kurdish movement, I saw it on Exarcheia". I also realized I know Handala as a Kurdish child in the past. The first thing I was learned about Palestine was "just like Kurdish childs - they are putting children in jail for throwing stones with a slingshot". Remembering this showed one more time how or struggles are connected.

No Borders Beach Picnic
I asked AMOQA to be our sugar daddy for this event and buy us a giant unicorn sea bed. This logical request accepted and we made our fist investment. We also printed stickers.

I bought a giant watermelon and thinking to cut it like a ceremony but everyone bridged watermelon in plastic cups already cut and ready to eat! At one point someone bringed delicious food. Also some people in the beach send us 2 giant Pizzas! This welcoming act made us so happy. We haven't felt insecure and we stayed there until late night.

We listened music, swimmed, chat, eat and played a card game at the end of night. We made new friends and it really boosted our motivation and mental health in this dark times. See you next event! With love and solidarity!
